Vulcan Aluminum

Foley, Alabama

HRV invested $12.1 million in an expansion of the Vulcan Aluminum Processing Plant. This investment spurred a much-needed economic boost in the severely distressed community of Foley, Alabama. Vulcan processes hot-rolled aluminum for street signs, and was in desperate need of an expansion. With the assistance of the New Markets Tax Credit Program, Vulcan has doubled its manufacturing capacity and increased employment opportunities in the community.

During construction, the project provided 227 full-time construction jobs (transformative for a rural community with an unemployment rate of 20.60%).

After completion, the plant added 26 new full-time jobs within the first two months, all of which include competitive wages, comprehensive benefits and a 100% employer-funded stock ownership plan.

With this expansion, Vulcan Aluminum was able to collaborate with local workforce organizations and vocational schools to seek out qualified employment candidates.

“This expansion is terrific news for Vulcan Inc., the community of Foley and for the workers of our state. Manufacturing makes our economy and our country stronger, and the expansion of this Alabama plant will help add jobs to our economy,” said U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile.
