Niemann Foods

HRV invested New Markets Tax Credit resources to construct a County Market grocery store in Decatur, Illinois. The grocery store is located in a USDA-designated Food Desert with a poverty rate of 23.8%.

The County Market grocery store is 34,500 square feet with a 3,000 square foot convenience store and a gas station.

The project created 120 construction jobs and 78 permanent positions, with the majority being filled by residents of the local community. Niemann foods, County Market’s parent company, is committed to providing training to its employees to prepare them for advancement opportunities.

Niemann Foods also partners with regional schools to provide internship and job opportunities for local students and works with state workforce development agencies to fill positions.
