HRV invested New Markets Tax Credit resources to construct and equip a 66,000 SF medical office complex to include oncology radiation and chemotherapy, ENT, rheumatology, orthopedics, and pharmacy services in rural Lillington, NC. The Cancer Center is located in a medically underserved, non-metropolitan, highly distressed community.
Cape Fear Harnett Cancer Center is part of the Central Harnett Hospital campus and provides Harnett County with its first and only dedicated cancer center providing radiation therapy. The Cancer Center is located on the first floor and provides Radiation Oncology which includes 3 exam rooms, a CT and linear accelerator, and medical oncology which includes 5 exam rooms and 16 bay infusion suites.
The project created 200 construction jobs and 40 permanent positions, while retaining 47 jobs. Hamett Health, in conjunction with its affiliate Cape Fear Valley Health has a strong internal training and development program. Additionally, they have invested $67,600 in grants to assist current employees working to meet prerequisites to attend nursing school at these colleges, and $118,000 in tuition reimbursement to employees seeking to improve their education and opportunities.
