Michael Hawkins Retires from Virginia Housing and the HRV Advisory Board

After 16 years with Virginia Housing, including eight years as its Managing Director of Community Outreach, Michael Hawkins has retired from his positions at Virginia Housing and as a member of HRV’s Advisory Board.

Throughout his career, which includes five years with the Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Mike has strived to expand affordable housing opportunities in Virginia and address the housing needs of minorities and diverse communities. Mike has focused especially on providing better housing choices for seniors and people with disabilities through federal, state and local partnerships involving both the public and private sector.

Mike has brought his passion for serving disadvantaged populations to his role as HRV Advisory Board member, providing valuable insight to the potential impact of projects being considered on severely distressed communities. HRV wishes to thank Mike for his service to HRV and for his years of public service to those in need.
